Infrastructure in Montgomery

Montgomery was originally founded as a small community outside of Calgary in 1911 with an unknown name. The community was given its current name, Montgomery, in 1943, became a town in 1957, a village in 1958, and was amalgamated into the City of Calgary in 1963. The neighbourhood, which is located along the Trans Canada Highway, is bounded by the Bow River to the west and south, Shaganappi Trail NW to the east and 32 Avenue NW to the north.

Former Bus Stops:

Pictured here is a Future Bus Zone sign located eastbound on 43 Street NW at 16 Avenue NW. This stop was first activated in 1989 or 1990, only being used by Route 40. On June 30, 2003, this stop was removed and a Future Bus Zone was put in its place, as eastbound trips on Route 40 were revised to bypass 43 Street NW, accessing Bowness Road NW via 16 Avenue NW. Westbound Route 40 trips still use 43 Street NW to turn from Bowness Road onto 16 Avenue NW; a current route 40 stop is located a block north of this future bus zone sign on 43 Street NW.
